EARLY INTERVENTION

Our Purpose:

 

The purpose of Fairhaven's Early Intervention Program is to meet the identified needs of infants and toddlers birth through age 2 and their families in areas related to promoting the child's development.  The Early Intervention Program is coordinated with families and other community agencies so that services are flexible and responsive to family wishes.

 

 

 Who Is Eligible:

 

An infant or toddler under three years of age with at least one developmental delay in the areas of:

  • cognitive skills

  • communication skills

  • physical motor skills

  • self-help skills

  • social-emotional skills

  • sensory skills                        

 

Child Evaluation and Assessment:

 

The comprehensive evaluation/assessment to determine eligibility is conducted by Fairhaven personnel, all of whom are appropriately licensed and certified specialists.

 

There is no cost to the family.

 

Testing is done in a play-based setting involving parents and professionals.

 

 

Services Offered:

¡  Occupational Therapy

¡  Play-Based Peer Interaction

¡  Home-Based Services

    (up to 18 months)

¡  Center-Based Services

¡  Cognitive Development

¡  Social-Emotional Development

¡  Sensory Development

¡  Nursing

¡  Transportation

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Children and families may participate in Fairhaven's Early Intervention Program on a full day or 2 days per week basis.  The frequency and location of services are determined by the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) Team and are based on the child's age and developmental needs, emotional needs, physical stamina, and, above all, the wishes of the family.
