Fairhaven Preschool is a full day integrated preschool program. This means we provide education to children receiving services through an individualized education program (IEP) and those that do not. Our program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We serve approximately 150 students and provide speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, hearing impairment services, and vision/mobility therapy as determined necessary by a student’s IEP. We meet the federal guidelines and provide a classroom assistant and certified teacher in all classes. We supplement instruction with specialized programing such as:
- Adaptive Physical Education
- Full Playground Center
- Sensory Room
- Gross Motor Development Room
- Goldie Blox (preschool STEM for girls)
- Jellybean Jamboree (mental health supplement)
- Full time nurses on staff
Our students receive a well-balanced education where developmental skills are enhanced, as well as academic skills. We work to learn how to cope with our emotions, how to share & take turns, how to color and draw, how to climb and run, and many other age appropriate preschool skills. We also provide field trips, parent-teacher conferences, holiday programming, classroom parties and activities, and preschool graduation ceremony. All students are given naptime or quiet time at midday to help them get through the day. We also have hot lunches that are available for students choosing to buy for the day. We also work with area school districts and have activities allowing Fairhaven students to work with and interact with volunteers from Mineral Ridge High School, Hubbard High School, Lakeview High School and Kennedy Jr/Sr. High School. We also provide similar preschool services at our off campus site at Seaborn Elementary School within the Weathersfield School District.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in our program, please be aware that the waiting list is over 2 years long at this time.

*We will add your child to the list based off of the arrival date of the form to the office. The TCBDD Fairhaven Preschool utilizes the Ohio Early Learning Assessment from the Ohio Department of Education. The monitoring and assessment tool serves as a set of educational expectations indicative of quality preschool programming. By utilizing this assessment tool and our standards based curriculum, our staff focuses on the importance of the young child in social emotional development, cognitive functioning, problem solving and decision making, motor skills development, and creative thinking. More information regarding the teaching and monitoring of these skills are shared in our assessment brochure, which can be accessed here.
