Superintendent's Update

To Individuals, Guardians, Parents and Families,

Transition-Phase 2
In order to continue the process of complying with state and federal mandates, the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities (TCBDD) will begin the second phase of its transition plan effective immediately.

The next phase of the transition will involve repurposing the Tony Tomaski Center, which will include moving individuals currently attending TTC to the Niles Workshop.

Individuals can voluntarily transfer to the Niles Workshop at any time; however, everyone will be transferred no later than July 1, 2019.

At that time, the Tony Tomaski Center will no longer be used to provide direct services. TTC will be remodeled and used as administrative offices for the Service and Support Administration Department, the Investigative Services Department, and the Direct Link program.

Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities will continue to provide Adult Services at the Niles Workshop from now until July 1, 2019. At that time, Fairhaven Industries, Inc. will become the Adult Services provider, and individuals will receive the same level of services as previously provided by TCBDD.

Throughout this process, the TCBDD and Fairhaven Industries, Inc. will continue working together to ensure a smooth transition of the remaining portion of all adult services programs run by TCBDD to Fairhaven Industries. As stated, the second phase of the transition plan is scheduled to be completed by July 1, 2019.

The Service and Support Administration Department will continue assisting with enrollment of eligible individuals in Ohio Medicaid benefits and participation in the Medicaid Waiver Program. Once enrolled on a Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver, an individual has the right to choose any qualified and willing provider of HCBS services at any time. Thus, a Service and Support Administrator will assist each individual in transitioning to Fairhaven Industries as the new provider or help the individual explore other qualified day service providers.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the second phase of the transition process.
